Get out your Blackberries and iPhones, call up Outlook or jot it down in your Daytimer. The first Thursday in October is once again the night to be in downtown Norfolk for the Kiwanis Harbor Party and Seafood Feast. From 4:30-7:30 pm on October 6, the freshest seafood, hungriest politicians and a couple thousand of your friends and neighbors will converge on Town Point Park in Norfolk to help support local children's charities.

The Kiwanis Club of Norfolk and Old Point National Bank are presenting sponsors again this year. "This has been a signature fall event for the community since it began and has enabled the Norfolk Kiwanians to do much good for worthwhile organizations in our region," says Jim Newsom, Senior Vice President and Regional Executive Officer with Old Point.

Since its debut in 1993, the Kiwanis Harbor Party and Seafood Feast has raised more than $700,000 for worthy non-profits, thanks to its many corporate sponsors and ticket buyers.

"This will be our 19th annual, and every year, people tell us, 'I'll be back next October' because of the setting, the food, the networking and the chance to rub shoulders with their elected officials," says Kerry Jordan, Chair of the Club's Charity Selection Committee, which distributes proceeds to local non-profits. "We couldn't be so successful without the support of our sponsors, many of whom have been with us for a decade or more. Every year we are pleased when new companies join them."

Costs of sponsorships will remain the same for 2011.
